Catching January Rays (20 Photos)

Taking advantage of a rare sun day

On the rare occasion of sunshine Monday morning, and with the ever-present possibility of losing the sun behind cloud at any moment, I took a quick spin on the western outskirts of the city.

It was as much an excuse to soak up some rays as it was an opportunity to capture images of woods, stream, back roads, geese in flight and buildings brightened by rare light.

The absence of sunshine has been one of the defining features of winter 2016-17 thus far. Here’s hoping you grabbed some rays while they shone. The next week calls for snow and cloud, and relatively cold temperatures.
