The Wellington Catholic District School Board has contacted police after what the board called a 'racist and disturbing' social media post surfaced involving two students from the board.

The post, which reportedly first appeared on the social media app Snapchat and has since been shared elsewhere, allegedly showed two male high school students simulating the incident that led to the death of George Floyd.

The board issued the following statement on the matter:

"The Wellington Catholic District School Board is aware of a social media post made by two students. The matter has been referred to Guelph Police and they are investigating.  Pending investigation outcomes, the Board will also consider taking further disciplinary action. The Board is committed to ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.  Any form of racism is unacceptable and will be dealt with seriously."

The board was contacted by several members of the community regarding the post.
