The annual Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington’s Around the World Gala takes on tropical inspiration with this year’s Hawaiian theme, presenting Aloha ‘Ohana on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Delta Guelph Hotel & Conference Centre. Each year, the Foundation seeks out live entertainment to support the year’s theme and this year, two unique groups share the stage adding energy and bringing décor to life at the evening’s celebrations.

Members of the Royal City Ukulele Ensemble, an adult-learning ensemble proudly based in Guelph under the direction of music educator Cynthia Kinnunen, will serenade guests during the cocktail hour. Once the ballroom opens, the Ensemble will grow in numbers to fill the hall with their sweet sounds of strumming as guests enjoy a Hawaiian-inspired three-course dinner.

Following the main course, the stage will fill with colour as traditional dancers from the Hawaiian Dance Company celebrate authentic Polynesian culture through music and movement and call to mind the ocean breeze and palm trees.

Dancing, singing, grass skirts and fresh flower lei are staples of Hawaiian celebrations. The Foundation encourages guests of the Around the World Gala to embrace the theme through evening dress and help bring the celebration to life. Past years have seen guests decked out in plaid for 2017’s A Walk Through Canada and swathed in saris for 2016’s Bollywood Gala.

Around the World is the Children’s Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser, raising over $160,000 each year to build hope for lifelong change and break the cycle of poverty for local families in need of a helping hand. All funds raised support the Children’s Foundation programs, offering every child and youth the opportunity to participate, learn and grow to reach their full potential.

Support for this year’s Gala is generously provided by Presenting Sponsor Dan Burnham and The Co-operators Insurance, Champagne Sponsor Ceramic Decor and Raffle Sponsors Guelph Manufacturing Group and The Mactaggart Team, Richardson GMP among others. Sponsorship opportunities are available for local businesses and entrepreneurs wishing to help better the lives of local children and make an incredible impact in the future of our community.

Tickets for this year’s event go on sale Tuesday, August 7th and will be available on the Children’s Foundation website or by emailing Events Manager Kasia Rusiniak at [email protected].
