A celebration of life for the man who called Exhibition Park home is set for Saturday in the park.

Jeff Eberhardt spent most of the past few years living in Exhibition Park and was adopted by many of those living in the area. They gave him food, clothing and friendship and he responded in kind, befriending many of the people and doing odd jobs for them.

Eberhardt died recently.

The celebration of life takes place Saturday, May 26, rain or shine starting at 11 a.m. near the softball enclosure.

Councillor Phil Allt and Pastor Kevin Coghill will speak at the event. Allt became good friends with Eberhardt the past two years.

People are encouraged to share their memories.

"Note: this is a spiritual celebration not a religious one. We will honour our outdoor friends as we reflect back on Jeff's impact on our lives and the spirit of community that brings us together," wrote Allt on Facebook.

"Donations for the Life Centre, Welcome Inn, North End Harvest Market, Memorial Plaque in Exhibition Park or the support network of your choice are appreciated. There are so many wonderful support groups, you likely have your favourite - Jeff loved sports - a donation to a minor sports programme would have been appreciated by him too."

For further details email Allt at [email protected].
