Centre Wellington firefighters stop garage fire from spreading to attached house (8 photos)

Heavy smoke and flames were visible from the attached single-car garage when first units arrived

Centre Wellington Fire Rescue Services responded to a burning garage on Second Line East in Pilkington Township at about 1:10 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

Heavy smoke and flames were visible from the attached single-car garage when first units arrived, said fire chief Brad Patton.

Guelph Fire Service sent a tanker in support of the firefighting effort upon request for mutual aid by CWFRS.

The flames were quickly extinquished and it appears most fire damage was isolated to the garage portion of the home, said Patton.

The cause and damage estimate are unknown at this time. A fire investigation will be conducted.

GuelphToday will have more on this story as information becomes available.
