Centre Wellington has found it's new top administrator.
Dan Wilson, the township's current treasurer and managing director of corporate services, will be promoted to fill the position soon to be vacated by current chief administrative officer (CAO) Andy Goldie's retirement.
The township announced the news in a media release Tuesday.
Wilson, who has been in his current role at the township for four years, will start as CAO on Jan. 4.
CAO is the only township employee that is hired directly by council. In September, councillors decided to contract a consultant to assist with the selection process and agreed the top three applicants would be interviewed by the entire council before they voted for their preferred candidate.
In a media release Wilson said he was "excited to be Centre Wellington's next CAO."
“Further contributing to the long-term development and success of the township in this role is a great opportunity and a privilege," he continued. "I am looking forward to working with our amazing staff, council, and the community on the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”
Mayor Kelly Linton said he was "pleased to appoint" Wilson.
“We are very fortunate to have an excellent successor within the organization," Linton said. "Dan has proven himself as a talented and thoughtful leader who will continue to use his forward thinking and results driven style to meet the expectations of our leadership team and our rapidly growing community."
Linton also thanked current CAO Andy Goldie for his years of dedication and leadership and congratulated him on his retirement.
Goldie's career in municipal government spans 33 years, almost 16 of those with the Township of Centre Wellington.
