TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON
*************************
Ontario is providing financial support through the Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance program to help the Township of Centre Wellington with its ice storm recovery efforts.
The ice storm uprooted trees and interrupted power in Centre Wellington from Mar. 23 to Mar. 25, 2016. The funds will help with costs associated with tree-cutting, clearing fallen limbs as well as any other emergency response. Eligible costs under the program may be as much as $333,000.
The Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance program helps municipalities address extraordinary emergency response costs and damage to essential property or infrastructure like bridges, roads and public buildings, as a result of a natural disaster.

Quick facts
-
The province delivers the Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance program, which provides funding to eligible municipalities using a sliding scale, cost-sharing formula.
-

-
Own Purpose Taxation is the amount of tax a municipality is eligible to collect to fund its own budget, minus certain adjustments, and is intended as an indicator of financial capacity.
- The program came into effect on March 1, 2016, replacing the public component of the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program.
