For the past year Guelph's Mike Ducak has been shooting deep-
sky objects from his south Guelph backyard and darker locations up north. The images were captured with a digital camera and telescope. Each is a series of exposure digitally stacked on a computer, then processed to adjust brightness and colour. Visit his blog at givemespace183366470.wordpress.com. This first shot is a cluster of young stars blowing a hole in the gas cloud from which it formed. The red is ionized hydrogen, which occurs when ultraviolet light from the stars excite the surrounding gas.Mike Ducak photo
