If you've been to a previous #Goodworking, you know the drill: It's a quarterly event for people looking to do good to connect to others looking to do good.
Normally, you'd hear a talk by a local peer, an ask from a community organization, and pitches from people like you sharing an idea to make the city better.
Normally.
“For Goodworking 14, we're going to try something a little different” says co-founder Danny Williamson, “we're partnering with PIN, The People and Information Network (formerly the Volunteer Centre of Guelph Wellington) for Cheers, Beers, and Volunteers, a one-night event that brings together good beer, good people, and #Goodworking.”
The scenario is simple. You have skills, share them! You want to create your next experience; this is your chance to tell a local non-profit how you would like to help them.
What could this look like?
- You love woodworking and would love to share your passion.
- You are a whiz with words and would love to create a monthly blog.
- You practice meditation and want to share mindfulness with others.
- You just love kids, want to help but don’t know where to start.
- You love numbers, spreadsheets and data and would love to analyze and provide reports.
“The possibilities are endless,” says Christine Oldfield, executive director at PI. “Playing an active role in creating a volunteer opportunity that fuels your passion contributes to meaningful experiences.”
Volunteer involvement is changing. Cheers, Beers and Volunteers hopes to provide the space to explore possibilities in an informal, fun venue. Join in!
