Today Guelph General Hospital is celebrating a generous gift of $175,000 from CIBC in support of the Together, We Care campaign.

“CIBC is proud to support the incredible work Guelph General Hospital does to ensure community members receive the highest quality of care during their cancer diagnosis and treatment,” said Snezana Popov, Director & Team Leader, Public Sector and Not-for-Profit Group, Commercial Banking, CIBC. “Our support this year helped make the hospital’s ambition of purchasing 33 new scopes for its endoscopy unit – which will benefit 7,000 patients per year – a reality.”

The gift from CIBC supports the $34 million Together, We Care campaign, the Foundation’s most urgent community fundraising project ever. The goal of the campaign is to fund the expansion of both the Emergency Department and Special Care Nursery as well as investing in new patient care equipment and technology. The Foundation has already raised $31 million towards the goal.

“We know that building strong and resilient communities can only happen when we collectively look after the health and wellbeing of our citizens,” explains Rob Wesseling President and CEO, The Co-operators, and co-chair of Guelph General Hospital’s Together We Care Fundraising campaign. “Contributions such as this one help ensure that Guelph General Hospital has the space and the resources needed to provide dignity and ensure that our families, friends and neighbours receive the care they need, when they need it most.”

The generous donation was welcomed by hospital President and CEO, Marianne Walker. “We are extremely grateful to have such wonderful supporters in our community. Gifts like this enable us to purchase the equipment and technology that helps us save lives and improve health. Especially now, in this time of the unprecedented challenges we face during this health crisis, we are so very grateful to corporate partners like CIBC for helping us provide the highest quality care and experience to our patients.”
