One of the city’s three deputy CAOs is preparing to leave after accepting a position with the Region of Peel.

The last day for Kealy Dedman, whose portfolio includes infrastructure, development and enterprise services, is March 26.

“We’ve been very fortunate to have had Kealy on our team,” said CAO Scott Stewart in a news release. “Her strong people leadership, commitment to public service, and extensive experience in the field have served us well and are just some of the reasons she’s been exceptionally well suited for this role.”

Dedman joined the City of Guelph in 2013 as its top engineer and was appointed to the deputy chief administrative officer role in 2019. She has played a leadership role in numerous initiatives, including the city’s asset management program, implementation of stormwater service to ensure long-term infrastructure stability and protection of Guelph’s surface water, as well as the Baker Street redevelopment project.

"On behalf of our executive team and city staff, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Kealy for the professionalism and commitment she has brought to her work with the City of Guelph," Stewart said. “We wish her nothing but the best in her new role.”

Dedman is to begin her new role, as commissioner of public works for the Region of Peel, on March 29.

The search for her replacement is already underway, notes the news release.
