NEWS RELEASE

CITY OF GUELPH

The City of Guelph has recovered information that was inadvertently disclosed to a third party during a legal discovery process. The City announced the disclosure earlier this month.

The third party’s affidavit referenced documents that contained personal information of City employees. The City has been able to confirm however that none of those documents were ever filed in court and, as such, are not part of any public record. The information that was unintentionally shared contained individual emails and calendar entries belonging to two former employees.

The City continues to cooperate and work with the Information Privacy Commissioner of Ontario with respect to this issue.

The City has already begun putting steps in place to ensure an error of this kind does not reoccur.
