Why come to the open house?

This is your opportunity to view project information. We invite you to talk with City staff and consultants working on the project so that you can ask questions and clarify plans including traffic changes, timing and property access.

Victoria Road intersection restrictions and closure proposed

Work proposed for 2016 will include the full closure of the Victoria Road and Elizabeth Street intersection for approximately four to six weeks starting around April 18.

Access to all properties will be maintained throughout construction via surrounding roads.

About the project

The City of Guelph is replacing underground sewer and water main on Elizabeth Street from Victoria Road to Industrial Street.

Road reconstruction will include the addition of curb & gutter, bicycle lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the street.

Work is being completed in two phases: the first phase was completed in 2015 and the second is being completed in 2016.

Phase 2 construction will begin mid-March and continue until July.

The Cycling Master Plan is a 10-year strategy to make cycling easier, safer and more accessible in Guelph by building a connected network of on– and off–road bike facilities throughout Guelph.

It is part of the City of Guelph’s efforts to support sustainable transportation, relieve traffic congestion, and make mobility accessible to all road users.

Adding bike lanes to Elizabeth Street will also help to make Elizabeth a route that accommodates all road users including public transit, cycling, pedestrians and vehicles.

The City of Guelph appreciates your patience and understanding as we complete this important infrastructure project.
