Collision slows traffic at Paisley and Glasgow (3 photos)

Minor damage was seen on a utility pole and a stop sign was knocked over

A two-vehicle collision on Friday afternoon resulted in a van colliding with a utility pole and knocking over a stop sign.

The collision occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Paisley Street and Glasgow Street North. There were no injuries to people in either vehicle, said Const. Frank Kecskemeti of the Guelph Police Service.

A black pickup truck and grey van were being removed from the scene about 30 minutes after the collision was called in to 911. Both vehicles had airbags deployed in the collision and sustained front end damage.

Minor damage was seen on a utility pole hit by the van. A crew from the City of Guelph replaced the stop sign on the northwest corner of the intersection with a temporary one while the vehicles were being removed.

Traffic was temporarily blocked on that section of Glasgow Street North as the vehicles were being removed.

Striking teachers were walking up and down the same stretch of Paisley Street at the time the collision was being dealt with by police.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, said Kecskemeti.
