NEWS RELEASE

CAPACITY 3 GALLERY

The Capacity 3 Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming installation Modal Nodes by Toronto based artist Anthony Cooper.

The exhibit will be on display at the Capacity 3 Gallery from May 28 to July 2, 2016 with a reception on Saturday, May 28 from 1-3 p.m., with the artist in attendance.

Modal Nodes is the first presentation of an ongoing series of small sculptures.

For this exhibition, thousands of small bits have been collected and combined, machined for different purposes and separated from their original functions, these different pieces have common gauges and can fit together.

The artist is searching for satisfying connections between disparate elements - ‘enjoy the decision of connection-points as nodes of information’.

Modal Nodes is created by the artist Anthony Cooper.

He is best known for his participation in the young art collective called vsvsvs.

The group is made up of eight young artists, most of whom are graduates from the University of Guelph’s Fine Arts programme (including Cooper).

They now live and create work together in Toronto.

This event is free and open to the public.

The Capacity 3 Gallery is located on the first floor of the Boarding House Arts Building, 6 Dublin Street, Guelph.

The hours are 12-5 Tuesday to Friday, and 9-3 on Saturdays.

The opening reception of Modal Nodes on Saturday, May 28 from 1-3 p.m., coincides with the opening of Gabriel Parniak’s exhibit Moments of Pride and Collective Sympathy at the Ashlar Gallery, 2nd floor of the Boarding House Arts Building.
