Internationally-celebrated pianist Leslie Kinton of the acclaimed piano duo Anagnoson and Kinton, will perform a solo recital at the Guelph Youth Music Centre on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Kinton is one of Canada's best-known and most sought-after chamber musicians. He has performed with Bryan Epperson, the St. Lawrence String Quartet, Martin Beaver, Ifor James, Joel Quarrington, Amici Chamber Ensemble, Erika Raum, Steven Dann, Mark Fewer, Dennis Brott, James Sommerville, James Campbell, Joaquin Valdepeñas, Raymond Luedeka, Avram Galper, Nora Shulman, Kathleen Rudolf, the York Winds, and actor Colin Fox (for Strauss's Enoch Arden).

“Our music series is a source of pride for us,” says Guelph Youth Music Centre executive director Gabriella Currie-Ziegler. “We’re proud on two counts. Firstly, we are presenting artists recognized around the world for their superb performances; and proud also that a community corporate partner likes Cascades Containerboard Packaging believe in the work we do and support us through this sponsorship.”

Sonata in D major, Op. 10 no. 3

Sonata quasi una Fantasia in C sharp minor, Op. 27 No. 2 (“Moonlight”)

  • Adagio sostenuato

Sonata in E flat major, Op. 81a(“Les adieux”)

  • Adagio – Allegro (The Farewell)
  • Andante espressivo (The Absence)
  • Vivacissimanente (The Return)

Leslie Kinton is a Professor of Piano at the University of Western Ontario, as well as a faculty member at The Glenn Gould School. He also holds a Master of Music and Ph. D in music theory from the University of Toronto.

Mr. Kinton is a founding member of the ARC Ensemble (Artists of the Royal Conservatory), the resident chamber ensemble of The Glenn Gould School. He is a member of The Royal Conservatory faculty and the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music.

Tickets: $35 for adults; $30 for seniors; $15 for students; $10 for a child (when accompanied by an adult). Save $5 by purchasing tickets in advance. 

THE Guelph Youth Music Centre: Established in 1992, the Guelph Youth Music Centre is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to education, enrichment and fostering the development of youth through music and the arts. Through a variety of programs, provision of space to partner organizations and outreach into the community, the Guelph Youth Music Centre enriches many lives. 

The Cascades Music at the Guelph Youth Music Centre Series will continue on Friday, May 12 at 8 p.m. with the Jerzy Kaplanek Jazz Trio – Jerzy Kaplanek, violin; Robi Botos, piano; Dave Young, bass.
