Guelph Museums launches two new exhibitions for the winter season at a reception and free Fourth Friday concert Friday, Nov. 25 at Guelph Civic Museum. Opening remarks at 6:30 p.m. will be followed by a performance by the Royal City Ambassadors.

Ken Danby: Five Decades and Home for the Holidays will be on display from Nov. 26 until Jan. 15, 2017.

Guest curated by Judith Nasby, curator emerita of the Art Gallery of Guelph, Ken Danby: Five Decades features his portraits, landscapes, and iconic Canadian imagery. Highlights include the first public showing of Danby’s mechanized easel and the display of studies for the Wayne Gretzky portrait, The Great Farewell.

Home for the Holidays captures stories of food, family, and fun times, while exploring Guelph residents’ holiday traditions. Memories of past and present Chanukah, Christmas, and Winter Solstice celebrations are included.

Also on display, Wall of Art: Rites of Passage features works by Maria Drazilov, Mike Mason, Korey Steckle, Rukhsar Jaffer, Erin Fitzgibbon and continues until Jan. 8, 2017.

Admission to the Guelph Civic Museum is free after 5 p.m. on Fourth Fridays. Guelph Civic Museum is located at 52 Norfolk Street.
