The City of Guelph and the Guelph Polices Service are set to start construction on police headquarters this week.
“I could not be more pleased the construction on Guelph Police Service headquarters is kicking off—this crucial project milestone marks the culmination of years of planning,” says Police Chief, Jeff DeRuyter.
The construction of this $34.1 million capital project is scheduled to be complete by the spring of 2019 and will be led by general contractor, Jasper Construction Corp.
The expansion and renovation of the Guelph Police Service headquarters will be completed in two phases.
The first phase includes the construction of the east and west wings. The renovation to gut and rebuild the existing building’s interior will follow in the second phase.
A fence around the headquarters’ perimeter to section off the work area has been installed. The initial construction work will include the removal of exterior walkways, retaining walls and stairs.
On-street parking options in the area have changed to accommodate this construction project. Detailed downtown parking information is available at guelph.ca/parking.
