Dads looking for a little bonding time with their young daughters — and an interest in learning how to do their hair — might want to check out the Dad and Daughter Holiday Hair event taking place Sunday at the Guelph Public Library.

Hosted by Modern Mommy Events and The Dad Spot, the 90-minute session will feature local hairstylist Carly Moore and her team teaching simple hair styling tips.

Braiding, buns, how to put in simple hair accessories are just a few of the areas that will be covered.

Organizer Eva Shortt said the event is aimed at daughters roughly 5 to 11 years of age.

"The point is to create an event for dads. There aren't a lot of companies out there  putting on activities for dads and their kids," Shortt said. "This is a really fun way of getting dads involved that creates more of a bond with their daughters.

"It's a lot of fun and they're learning something, but it's really about fostering that bond," she said.

Shortt held a similar event at the beginning of the year that drew 15 dads and their daughters.

The event features 45 minutes of hair instruction then do a fun activity for the final 45.

"Dads do the hair. It's hands-on instruction."

The event starts at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $30 for a father/daughter, each additional child is $10.
