Dog rescued by icebreaker crew reunites with owners (3 photos)

Lost dog rescued by coast guard after crossing the ice - and the border - from St. Joseph Island over the holidays

Kailaan Walker and Lydia Selin of Guelph have been reunited with their dog, Logan, after the crew of the USCGC Mackinaw rescued him from Lime Island, Mich. earlier this week.

The couple met up with the icebreaker crew at a United States Coast Guard base in Cheboygan, Mich. Friday in order to retrieve Logan.

The three-and-a-half year old husky and belgian malinois mix got away from Walker and Selin Dec. 24 while they were visiting family on St. Joseph Island over the holidays.

Logan had been missing for 11 days before he was seen traversing the ice near Lime Island by crew members aboard the icebreaker.

The USCGC Mackinaw has given Logan a pendant for his dog collar, and bestowed upon him the 'Order of the Great Turtle' for completing a 'successful tour' aboard the coast guard vessel.
