Downtown Guelph has lost one of its longest serving and finer dining restaurants.
Babelfish Bistro at 80 Macdonell Street is no more.
The restaurant has been at that location since the early 1990s.
A message on the restaurant's answering machine was as follows:
"After more than 23 years, Babelfish Bistro is now closed. It's a bittersweet moment and we are truly grateful for the many years of patronage by our many wonderful guests. It has been our pleasure to serve you. Here's to new beginnings and all the best going forward. Thank you for everything, it has been one heck of a ride."
The restaurant's owner could not immediately be reached for comment.
