On March 5, 2016 at 11:38 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Woodlawn Road and Arrow Road for a single car collision.

It is alleged that a 2011 grey four door Toyota was westbound on Woodlawn Road West near Arrow Road when it left the roadway, travelling a short distance on the sidewalk before it struck two trees and came to rest.

Both occupants of the motor vehicle were transported to Guelph General Hospital.

The driver, a 74-year-old male from Guelph Township was pronounced deceased by doctors a short time later.

The passenger, a 71-year-old female also from Guelph Township, was treated for significant but non-life threatening injuries.

Police were on scene for several hours and had one lane of westbound traffic closed during the investigation.

As of this time the investigation is ongoing, pending the results of a coroner’s report.
