Driving 139 in an 80 zone, licence and vehicle seized

GUELPH - On July 4, 2016 at approximately 2:03 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar speed enforcement and monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. 

The officer observed a female driving a 2008 Chevrolet northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. 

The vehicle was clocked on radar at approximately 139 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Her driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

45-year-old Jezelle Westmaas of Toronto has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. 

He is to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 20, 2016 to answer to the charge.
