PUSLINCH — A dump truck collided with a CP Rail freight train just south of Guelph Wednesday morning.

Few details were immediately available, but Wellington County OPP, fire and paramedics responded to the call at around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to a rail crossing on Concession Road 7 in Puslinch Township, four kilometres southeast of Aberfoyle.

A dump truck had collided with a freight train and ended up in a marshy ditch adjacent to the rail tracks.

An officer at the scene said there was no fatality but it was not immediately known if there were any injuries.

The crossing, which does not have barriers that engage if a train was coming, is on a dirt road between Gore Road and Concession 1.

The dump truck was headed north on Concession Road 7 and the train was westbound. The engine stopped approximately 100 metres down the track and it wasn't clear which part of the train collided with the truck.

Wellington County OPP and CP Rail police were on scene investigating the incident and the road remained closed to through traffic mid-morning.
