Early morning fire guts former Hamilton garage (6 photos)

Guelph Fire was on the scene early hours Saturday

Several firefighters were on scene tending to remains of a fire Saturday afternoon in the building at the intersection of Gordon Street and Arkell Road.

The building is known to many as the old Hamilton’s Corner Garage.

The Guelph Fire department was on scene at 2:30 a.m. Saturday putting out the fire, also closing surrounding roads.

The inside of the building was visibly covered in ashes Saturday and much of the roof collapsed. A waste removal crew was on scene.

The cause of fire remains unknown. Roads are open.
