NEWS RELEASE

CITY OF GUELPH

************************
The City’s construction plans include the replacement of sanitary and storm sewer pipes, water main, curb and gutter and driveway aprons. Road repaving will include bike lanes and curb narrowing between Yorkshire Street and Raymond Street to prevent on-street parking and support traffic calming through this neighbourhood.

The northbound lane of Edinburgh Road will be closed between Waterloo Avenue and Wellington Street West beginning August 8 for about a week, weather permitting.

The southbound lane will remain open but delays should be expected.

Bristol Street will be closed from Raymond Street to Holliday Street with limited local access for the duration of the work, about four months. Local traffic will be re-routed via Raymond Street with temporary intersection closures of Raymond and Holliday at Bristol Street during construction.

Property access

Access to driveways will be maintained as best as possible during the construction. Trenching work across driveway entrances will restrict vehicular access at times. Access restrictions will be coordinated with property owners to minimize impacts.

Water and sewer service interruptions

Every effort will be made to water and sewer service to individual properties during construction. As services are transferred to the new water and sewer mains, short interruptions (lasting up to a few hours during normal working hours) can be expected. Advance written notice will be provided prior to any planned service interruption. In order to maintain water service to individual properties during construction, a temporary above-ground water main will be installed.

Waste collection

Waste collection will be maintained during construction. On collection days when access is restricted by construction operations, crews will move containers to an accessible location for collection. Please ensure that your address is clearly marked on your containers so they can be returned to you after collection.

Guelph Transit

Transit Route 8 will be detoured during construction. Please visit guelphtransit.ca for more information.

The City of Guelph appreciates your patience, understanding and co-operation during this important construction project.  Project details and updates are available on the City’s website at guelph.ca/construction
