The city has completed its environmental assessment on the Niska Road bridge and it recommends the current one-lane bridge be replaced with a two-lane bridge.

The report also recommends that Niska Road from the bridge to Ptarmigan Drive be reconstructed with two shared-use lanes and a sidewalk on the north side.

The public has until March 11 to submit comments on the documents.

All of the environmental assessment documents are available for review at guelph.ca/niskaroad. Paper copies are available at city hall, the YMCA-YWCA and the main library.

The estimated cost to implement the recommended improvements to the road and bridge is approximately $4.8 million.

A total of $2,950,000 is included in the 2016 capital budget. The remaining estimated funds will be requested in future budgets.
