Exotic cars on display in Downtown Guelph this weekend

Lamborghinis, Porsches, Alfa Romeos and a host of other exotic breeds to take over Carden Street
car show

Lamborghinis, Porsches, Audis, Jaguars, Maseratis, Alfa Romeos: Just some of the fine automobiles you can get up close and personal with Sunday at the first ever Downtown Guelph Exotic Car Show.

The event will be held on a closed-off Carden Street on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Organizer Jamie Prince said he expects between 50 and 70 vehicles to be on display.

"My goal is to get 70 cars and just jam them in," said Prince. "I just want the first year to be very good and create that good vibe for everybody."

These aren't just any cars. They're high-end, expensive vehicles, including Prince's own baby, an Audi R8 with a V10, six-speed manual transmission.

Prince started the Prince Adventures Car Group last summer after seeing similar groups thrive in neighbouring cities. The group now has 103 members.

"There's tonnes of nice cars around the Guelph area," Prince said. "I used to go to Toronto and London and it was a bit of a drive, so I said 'why not get something started in the middle.'"

The group is for owners of exotic cars only.

"If it's a BMW it should be an 'M' series, if it's a Mercedes is should be an AMG. If it's an Audi it should be an RS line or up, just to keep things at a certain level," Prince said.

"There are a lot of younger car groups that exist but they're just going for big car meets and just want a lot of people to show up but they don't really care who shows up.

"What I'm trying to focus on is using cars and people who are a little bit more affluent in a lot of cases to do benefit in the community."

Prince said he brought the idea for the event to the Downtown Guelph Business Association and they jumped all over it, helping organize the event.

Prince has teamed up with the Guelph-based charitable app Givesome and hopes to raise money for causes at this weekend's event and others that come after it. Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Guelph will benefit from this weekend's event.

There will also be live music

"I just saw the vision of Carden Street as being such a great location for an event like this. I love that street," Prince said. "I just thought it would be an awesome street to have an event on."

At 4 p.m. Sunday there will be an all-engine start up and a car parade as the cars exit.

Organizers hope to make the exotic car show an annual event.
