On Saturday, Sept. 24, the County of Wellington invites residents and visitors to savour the local harvest at the 16th Annual Fall Rural Romp, organized by their Taste Real local food programme. Nineteen Romp locations in Southern Wellington County and Guelph are open to the public from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. highlighting local food and farm experiences.
Rompers have the opportunity to participate in tours, meet farm animals, pick pumpkins, receive a free seedling from the Green Legacy Tree Nursery, and learn about local food and agriculture. The event also includes food demonstrations, kids’ activities, corn mazes, live music, wagon rides, and a coffee roastery tour. Farm stores and food businesses will be open along the way to purchase goods and prepared foods.
“Wellington County has a strong local food culture, grown from our deep agricultural roots,” said Wellington County Economic Development Committee Chair, George Bridge. “The Rural Romp is an excellent opportunity for participants to experience that culture and highlights some of our finest experiences and flavours.”
Participants are encouraged to share their Rural Romp adventures on social media using the hashtags #RuralRomp and #tastereal.
