Extreme cold warning issued for:

Guelph - Erin - Southern Wellington County, Ont. (046420)

Kitchener - Cambridge - Region of Waterloo, Ont. (046430)

Current details:

A period of very cold wind chills is expected.

An Arctic air mass is forecast to begin to move into southern Ontario today. Wind chill values are expected to fall to close to -35 overnight tonight, and overnight Sunday. Wind chill values overnight Monday are expected to be close to -30.

Conditions will improve by Tuesday when a milder airmass moves in.

Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frostbite and hypothermia.
