Jordan Langelier's mother and godfather were on hand Tuesday morning as the man accused of second-degree murder of a Guelph security guard made a court appearance.
Langelier, 21, had a bail hearing at the Ontario Ontario Court of Justice on Wyndham Street via video.
A man and woman identified themselves to the court as Langelier's mother and godfather. They were accompanied by three other people.
Langelier has been charged with the second-degree murder of Mario Ruffolo and told court he wants defence lawyer Ranney Hintsa to represent him.
The judge granted Hintsa’s request to move the bail hearing to Jan. 28 on video. Langelier will remain in custody.
Langelier was arrested on the scene after 63-year-old security guard Mario Ruffolo died on the night of Jan. 15 following an incident at the VIA Rail building at Guelph Central Station in Downtown Guelph.
Guelph Police responded to a call about a disturbance where an adult male was being assaulted behind the rail station at 8:47 p.m.
Ruffolo was working as a security guard at the train station and was located on-scene with life-threatening injuries. He later died in hospital.
