A Fergus high school advanced to the top 10 teams in a national cybersecurity competition.

The team Falcontech King’s Guard will represent Centre Wellington District High School in a virtual competition on June 8th where students will compete from home in CyberTitan III National Finals.

The team was one of 10 selected from 200 teams across Canada.

The finals will see the top ten teams in Canada battle in a cybersecurity skill test.

“I think that we are in good shape for the competition. We have really worked on our collaboration which I think is super important for any team,” said team caption Rachel Routly in a press release.

“The current situation is definitely shaking up our expectations, but it's never a bad thing to stay on your toes, especially in an ever-changing field like cybersecurity.”

CyberTitan III is the third annual national cybersecurity competition in which middle school and high-school students are given the opportunity to refine and test their cybersecurity skills.

Teams are given tasks that involve cybersecurity operations and opportunities to compete against other teams across Canada.

Falcontech King’s Guard from Centre Wellington District High School is coached by Timothy King and includes Rachel Routly, Edward Noel, Quentin Wolkensperg, Kyle Welsh, Arvid Kuitert and Nick Robichaud.
