Four new traffic signals, seven new pedestrian crossovers planned for Guelph in 2019

Four new traffic signals and seven new pedestrian crossovers that have reached the required threshold are planned for Guelph in 2019.

The cost of the new safety measures is $1.3 million.

"Based on analysis of traffic, pedestrian and collision data, Transportation staff recommend new traffic signals be installed in 2019 at the following locations," says a staff report.

- Eramosa Road between Stevenson Street North and Meyer Drive (pedestrian signal)

- Edinburgh Road South at Rodgers Road (north intersection) (pedestrian signal)

- Woodlawn Road West at Arrow Road (full intersection signal)

- Elmira Road North at Independence Place (full intersection signal)

Additionally a pedestrian signal is being installed on Gordon Street near Royal City Park, between the current signal at Water Street and Wellington Street.

In addition there will be seven new pedestrian crossovers installed in 2019.

-Victoria Road North at Simmonds Drive

- York Road at Boult Avenue/Harris Street

- Rickson Avenue at Darnell Road

- Delhi Street at Emma Street

- Bagot Street at Suffolk Street West

- Stephanie Drive at Deerpath Drive (north intersection)

- Wilson Street at Northumberland Street
