Free workshops for health and wellness

Guelph Family Health Team meeting demand for health-related workshops

The Guelph Family Health Team is again offering a series of wellness workshops this year. They are free to anyone in the community.

The team is located in the executive offices of the Old Quebec Street Shoppes, 55 Wyndham St. N.

Haley Weber, Guelph FHT community programs lead, said the organization has offered the popular workshops to community members for several years. Last year’s broad ranging slate of sessions attracted over 700 attendees, she said.

Registration begins soon for a number of the workshops, while others have spring registrations.

There are sessions on how to sleep well, effective approaches to living a better life in better health, an education class on osteoarthritis, an introduction to cognitive behavioural therapy for depression, and a workshop on having a healthy relationship to food.

“We provide these programs to support the needs of our community and provide additional educational opportunities about various health topics,” Weber said in an email. She added that the topics of the workshop are those that continue to be in demand.

“We continuously review our offerings and look for new opportunities that would be of interest and benefit to our community,” she added.
