Funeral service set for slain Guelph woman

The funeral for Jenna Gazzola will take place Thursday at Basilica of Our Lady at 10:30 a.m.

Gazzola, 34, was killed April 17 inside her Hamilton apartment. A man who lived on the same floor has been charged with her murder.

Visitation takes place Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street. A vigil will be held Wednesday at 8:45 p.m.

Interment will be private.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Guelph Wish Fund For Children or the Jenna Gazzola Library Trust Fund at the Wellington Catholic District School Board.

Gazzola attended St. Michael's Catholic elementary school and graduated from St. James Catholic High School. She attended Brock University and teacher's college at Western and was working in Hamilton as a teacher at St. Charles Adult and Continuing Education Centre.

Her father is longtime Guelph Police Service officer and Wellington Catholic School Board chairman Marino Gazzola.
