NEWS RELEASE
GUELPH PUBLIC LIBRARY
*************************
Starting Monday, June 29, 2020, join the Guelph Public Library’s online Summer Reading programs for nine fun-filled weeks of challenges for all ages! You can join at any time between June 29 and Aug. 29, 2020 through the READSquared app.

It’s easy to participate! Here’s how:

1. Download the READsquared App via the Apple App Store or Google Play to record your reading activities. Or visit the library's summer reading program website at http://guelph.readsquared.com to get started.

2. Register for an account with your email address. Note: You may create a family account by registering the adult first followed by registering your children as additional participants.

3. There are four summer reading programs available for all ages: PreReader (birth to 5 years), Reader (6 to 12 years), Teen Bingo (13 to 18 years), Adult Bingo (19 years or older). Please select your summer reading club program based on your age.

For children, ages birth to 12 years, you will receive a point for every minute read! This summer, the goal for PreReaders (birth to 5 years) is to read, or to be read to, for approximately one hour per week or nine hours total between June 29 and Aug. 29, 2020.

Readers (6 to 12 years) should read, or be read to, for two hours per week or 16 hours total to be entered into the end of summer prize draws. There will be random draws throughout the summer, so be sure to keep recording your reading all summer long.

You can also earn badges for every hour (PreReader) or two hours (Reader) that you read. We challenge you to earn them all! Are you interested in earning extra points towards your program goal? Submit book reviews online via the library’s READsquared app and complete special summer reading missions for bonus points!

Summer reading isn't just for kids! The Library is encouraging teens and adults to read and explore the wonderful world of books with an online B-I-N-G-O reading challenge. When you have scored a B-I-N-G-O (which is one line in a row, column or diagonal), you will automatically be entered into the end of summer grand prize draw. Visit the library’s summer reading webpage for more information on each specific reading program.

For all the summer reading programs, you can read books and eBooks or listen to audiobooks and eAudiobooks – or any combination of the above. Whether you read on a bus or a device, listen to material in a car or enjoy reading upside down, be sure to log into the library's READsquared app to fill out your summer reading activities!

If you are unable to participate online using READsquared or have any questions about the summer reading programs, please email [email protected] or phone your nearest library location for alternative options to our virtual platform.

Challenge yourself to read something new this summer and experience the joy of reading for fun!
