Get ready to dance until you drop, Celtic style

Upstairs in the Albion Hotel is where the party start at 7:30 p.m.

If you’ve ever walked into an Irish pub in the old country and were pleasantly shocked to the bone by the immediate musical impact it had from the soles of your feet to the dome of your head, you likely walked in on a Ceili

A lively musical party that drives on and on through tunes, dances and merriment, the traditional Irish gathering is what Irish pubs tend to be all about. Good craic, and more good craic through to the wee hours. There’s one happening tomorrow night in a downtown Guelph pub.

Once again, a few days in advance of the biggest celebration on the Irish calendar, the Riverside Celtic College is hosting the St. Patrick Day’s Ceili. One would expect the floorboards to rattle and the toes to tap.

The doors of the Albion Hotel at 49 Norfolk St. crack open at 7 p.m. for a Celtic shindig that fires up at 7:30 p.m. and carries on t0 10:30 p.m.

Live music will be offered up by the Kitchen Party Trio made up of fiddle, bodhran, and many other of the Irish instruments. There’ll be Irish step dancing demonstrations, some dances anyone can do, and many musical guests. Be forewarned that you may dance until you can dance no more. The event is generally filled up.

Tickets $15.00 at the door, with children 12 and under free.

Riverside Celtic College has long provided instruction in traditional Celtic music, language and dance, for absolute beginners, intermediate players, and those getting back into playing. It is part of the Riverside Celtic Society that promotes Celtic culture in Grand River region.

St. Patrick's Day proper is on Friday, March 17. Guelph's downtown tends to be the party hub.
