If you submitted a lost pet report to the Guelph Humane Society this month, it might not have gone through due to a software failure.
The GHS is now urging pet owners to resubmit any reports made throughout September.
"Outside of an up-to-date microchip or visible identification such as a pet license tag, matching stray animals with lost pet reports is the most reliable method we have to reunite missing pets with their families," said GHS director of communications Jane Dawkins.
The humane society received an average of 47 reports per month in July and August.
"Our primary goal is to ensure that any pet is reconnected with their family as quickly as possible,” said GHS executive director Lisa Veit in a press release. “We apologize if this failure in technology has delayed this effort. We are working hard with our service provider to correct this issue as quickly as possible.”
Owners are asked to resubmit lost reports by emailing missing pet information to [email protected] or by calling 519-824-3091. A complete list of missing pet information that needs to be included can be found at www.guelphhumane.ca.
