CITY OF GUELPH

Underground water and sewer work for the York trunk sewer and Paisley-Clythe feeder main project

The York trunk sewer Paisley-Clythe feeder main is a $30 million, multi-year infrastructure project. It is the City’s largest water main and wastewater (sanitary) sewer project. It includes the installation of about 6.2 kilometres of water pipes and 3.8 kilometres of sewer pipes.

Phase two of the York trunk sewer and Paisley-Clythe feeder main project being completed in 2016 includes the installation of six kilometres of underground water and sewer pipes between Gordon Street and Waterworks Place.

Gordon Street closure starts May 2

Gordon Street will be closed to traffic in both directions between the Guelph Animal Hospital and the Boathouse Tea Room for up to three weeks beginning on or about May 2. The closure is needed for the installation of sewer pipes under the road.

Detour and local business access

Through road traffic will be detoured via Wellington Street, Edinburgh Road, and Stone Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained; cyclists may walk their bikes along the pedestrian access or cycle via the detour. Cycling is not permitted on the sidewalk.

During the closure, the Guelph Animal Hospital and the plazas at Gordon and Wellington will be accessible from the north; Royal City Park, the Boathouse Tea Room, the Guelph Lawn Bowling Club and the covered bridge will be accessible from the south.

Gordon Street will be open by May 26 at the latest to ensure access for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario.

Guelph Transit

Guelph Transit routes 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 5, 8 and 16 will be temporarily detoured during construction. Visit guelphtransit.ca for information about stop changes and route detours.

The City appreciates your patience, understanding and co-operation during this important construction project. Project details and any updates will be posted on guelph.ca/construction.
