On Friday, the Guelph Little Theatre (GLT) welcomed members of the public to celebrate the recent Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) capital grant that was awarded to GLT last month.

Local MPP Mike Schreiner and OTF volunteer David Murray were on hand to congratulate GLT for its successful OTF grant application and hear more about how the upgrade to the overall infrastructure of GLT’s main stage and lighting system will make a significant difference from an audience perspective.

“As Guelph's member of provincial parliament, I congratulate the theatre on receiving a new Ontario Trillium Foundation capital grant. This will allow them to significantly upgrade the current stage infrastructure, providing a stronger space for even more fantastic performances. I look forward to attending an upcoming GLT performance!” – Mike Schreiner, MPP for Guelph

“GLT is delighted that through this OTF capital grant, increased and improved production capacity will provide more opportunity for the community to access the performing arts.” – Bruce Bennett, past president and department head for lighting, Guelph Little Theatre

Established in 1935, the theatre is in the heart of the City of Guelph. GLT is a volunteer community theatre organization. Its season includes five different shows taking the stage as well as a One Acts festival. The theatre space is highly sought after by different community groups.

This grant will enrich people’s lives through arts, culture and heritage. The GLT has an amazing connection to not only the Guelph community at large, but also the Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge and Fergus community.

GLT is committed to providing a safe environment in which all people are treated with respect and dignity. For more information, please visit the Guelph Little Theatre’s website. Follow Guelph Little Theatre on Twitter @GuelphTheatre.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. OTF awarded more than $120 million to some 700 projects last year to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario.
