Guelph will celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day Thursday in an event outside Guelph City Hall.

The First Nations, Inuit and Métis celebration gets underway at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 8:30 p.m.

Carden Street will be closed to traffic for the event,

The event celebrates the culture, unique heritage and notable achievements of Canada’s First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

The free event is open to all and includes:

Traditional welcome

  • Live music and dancing

  • Drum circle

  • Craft vendors

  • Children’s activities

  • Teen World Hoop Dance Champion Ascension Harjo
