The mantra of Masters's sports is to keep moving and embrace fun and fitness at any age. While COVID sidelined the inaugural games in 2020, The Guelph Games: International Multi-Sport Festival is maintaining its mission and momentum and launching “The Guelph Games Day”: A one-day community celebration for the entire family.

Guelph/Wellington and surrounding area residents are encouraged to participate in The Guelph Games Day. This one-day community celebration on Sunday, Aug. 29, is a self-guided tour to four locations around Guelph with Exhibition Park acting as the “Hub”.

Each location will feature a fun, family-friendly ‘in person’ activity, as well as a virtual activity via our app. Exhibition Park will showcase lots of exciting live events (music, entertainment, yoga, food trucks) and a special Augmented Reality component where you get to meet some of Canada’s Top Athletes.

We will also be giving away thousands of dollars in prizes right on the spot! You don’t want to miss out!

Locations and Schedule of Events

Exhibition Park:

Exhibition Park is the “Hub” for The Guelph Games Day and includes live entertainment, food trucks, music and also a fun augmented reality experience where you will meet some of Canada’s Top athletes via our APP!

  • 9 a.m. Community Yoga on the park (bring your own yoga mats and arrive by 8:30 to reserve your spot)
  • 12 p.m. Hillside music showcase
  • 3 p.m. Community showcase
  • 6 p.m. Community Meditation for Mental Health (bring your own yoga mats)

In between our activities at Exhibition Park, participants can visit our other locations which will each feature a fun, family friendly activity as well as a virtual active movement via our APP.

Royal City Park: Freestyle Soccer Skills: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

GCVI Basketball courts: Basketball fun with the Ball 4 All Team:  10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Spring Mill Distillery: Cornhole Challenge:  10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Here’s how the APP works:

At each location, participants will be checked in via our APP. Once they are checked in, they qualify for a chance to win prizes from local businesses.

Once participants check in to each location, there will be activities they can participate in.

1: Participants will be guided to view a special video on our app that will lead them through a fun and safe physical activity which. Participants will be encouraged to share these fun moments on social media, using our hashtag (#TheGuelphGames), which will increase their chances to win the grand prizes (each share = one more entry).

2: At Exhibition Park there will be a scavenger hunt activated with the augmented reality feature on the APP. Participants will scan a special sign to be able to view special videos from high profile Canadian athletes sharing their favorite Canadian Sport Moment. Share on social media which athlete video you loved and tag #TheGuelphGames for your chance to prizes

3: Lastly, each location will also feature a fun ‘active’ participation (Royal City Park = Freestyle Soccer, GCVI Courts + Ball 4 All Basketball and Spring Mill Distillery = Corn Hole Challenge). Participants can choose to enjoy the activity if they feel comfortable. Participants will be encouraged to share these fun moments on social media, using our hashtag (#TheGuelphGames), which will increase their chances to win the grand prizes (each share = one more entry).

And… if you’d rather experience the event from the comfort of your backyard, porch or your living room, you can do that too with a customized virtual “stay at home” option.

This is a non ticketed event open to all residents in the community and the region.

This campaign allows participants to enjoy a fun and interactive experience and get them active.

The live activities at Exhibition Park allow participants to enjoy a community event together in a very safe and fun way. Adding Yoga and meditation for the community to support mental health as well as some fun activities at each location will be a great way to bring together the community after a challenging year.

The use of our APP and videos/augmented reality is an innovative way to engage with participants, and to add a level of fun and excitement as they virtually meet some of Canada’s top athletes.
