The Guelph Public Library wants you to share your memories of Guelph.

The library is hosting a pair of events in which Guelph residents can come in and share their memories of the city through words, photos, artifacts, letters or written stories.

Stories of Our Citizens: Canada 150 Memories Project takes place Thursday, May 25 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the library's main branch.

A second event is planned for Friday, June 16, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., also at the main branch.

"We're trying to invite people to come in with their stories, with the idea being to capture those stories," said Darcy Hiltz, the Guelph Public Libraries archivist librarian.

"It could be someone that's lived here for quite a while in the city and we're hoping that they've had experiences that they will share. It's broad in that sense."

One story has already been recorded on video. Photographs can be scanned, written submissions collected.

"We want to get stories of Guelph that perhaps aren't as well known. We had one gentleman tell us about his experiences living in Guelph and serving during the war, plus various jobs he had and what Guelph may have looked like when he was younger.

"It's a more personal approach."

The library eventually plans to share the stories and items they are collecting.
