The Guelph Storm and winger Jake Bricknell have parted ways.

Storm general manager Mike Kelly said that it was mutual.

"I met with Jake and his father today and we both decided that maybe it was for the best," Kelly said.

"He's a good kid. A good person. Sometimes things just don't work out," Kelly said.

Bricknell, 19, had five goals and nine points in 26 games with the Storm this season. He had been a healthy scratch on a couple of occasions.

He was acquired in November 2015 from the Hamilton Bulldogs in exchange for a fifth round draft pick and an eighth round draft pick.

Last year he finished with 11 goals and 11 assists.

Kelly said there was no animosity or hard feelings, it was just felt that with the Storm's younger players getting more ice time lately there was no longer a fit for Bricknell in the lineup.

The Storm will try and find another OHL team for Bricknell to play on. If that doesn't work out, Bricknell may play tier II hockey.
