Guelph Storm's Givani Smith drafted by Detroit Red Wings

Defenceman Noah Carroll also drafted, as were Guelph natives Kudla and Bunnaman

Givani Smith was taken in the second round of Saturday's NHL draft by Detroit.

Guelph Storm winger Givani Smith was drafted 46th overall Saturday by the Detroit Red Wings.

Smith, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound Toronto native, had 23 goals and 19 assists last season for Guelph.

Teammate Noah Carroll was taken in the sixth round of the seven-round draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Guelph native Connor Bunnaman, who plays for the Kitchener Rangers, went in the fourth round to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Guelph native Patrick Kudla, who played tier II hockey in Oakville last season and is heading to the United States on a scholarship, was taken in the sixth round by the Arizona Coyotes.
