Guelph's first pot shop proposed for Downtown Guelph

Results from a second round of the retail cannabis store lottery conducted by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) were announced Wednesday and one Guelph business is on the list.

Applicant John Reynolds was announced as one of 11 retail cannabis lottery proponents selected in the province's West Region. He proposes a retail cannabis operation to be run out of 120 Wyndham St. N., near Quebec Street. 

The storefront at 120 Wyndham N. is currently vacant. It stands directly next to the longtime Dutch Toko location.

In total, 42 applicants were notified that they may apply for a cannabis retail store authorization. A total of 4,864 applications were received by the province.

Applicants have until Aug. 28 to apply for the authorization. Only those that meet regulatory standards will be permitted to receive a license.

Another applicant in Guelph is on the wait list for appoval. Applicant Ralph Llacar proposes a store at 208 Victoria Rd. S.
