Hamiltonian accused of drug trafficking while impaired

Police say the alleged impairment also involved drugs

Hamilton man charged with impaired by drug and trafficking

PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP –On July 10, 2016 at approximately 3:25 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) was called to investigate a 2005 Honda that was in a ditch on Highway 6 near Leslie Road, Puslinch Township. 

Police found a man attempting to drive the vehicle out of the ditch and believed that he was impaired by a drug. 

He was arrested and during the search of the vehicle, suspected heroin, marijuana, psilocybin (mushrooms) and hydromphone was located, along with items associated with drug trafficking. 

He was brought to a local OPP Operations Centre. 

33-year-old Ryan McKechnie, of Hamilton, is charged with;

  • Care or control of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs-Criminal Code (C.C.)
  • Possession heroin for the purpose of trafficking - Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (C.D.S.A.)
  • Possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking-under 3kg - C.D.S.A.
  • Possession of psilocybin for the purpose of trafficking-C.D.S.A.
  • Possession of a hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking-C.D.S.A.

He appeared in WASH Court on July 10, 2016.
