The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is seeking information from the public after a stray dog was found and brought to GHS is deplorable condition. The Rottweiler mix, found wandering near Wellington St. and Gordon St. in Guelph, was secured by a concerned passerby, and brought to the Guelph Humane Society for care.
The approximately one-year dog was immediately transported by an Animal Protection Officer to the veterinarian for examination, which revealed the dog was dehydrated, extremely underweight, and suffering from severe hair loss, as well as had untreated infections of the skin, eyes and ears.
The friendly male dog is now being monitored closely at the shelter, while receiving much-needed care.
“We are looking for the public’s assistance to help find the owner of this dog,” says Megan Swan, Ontario SPCA Agent. “We would like to understand more about his medical condition and how he came to be wandering in downtown Guelph.”
If you have any information that could assist the Guelph Humane Society, please call 519-824-3091 immediately.
The Guelph Humane Society wants to remind the community that if you or someone you know is unable to care for an animal, please call GHS at 519-824-3091 or email [email protected]. The humane society is here to help individuals or families that can no longer care for their pets for any reason.
