Impaired driver arrested in early morning fog

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On January 20, 2017 at approximately 6:19 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a 2008 Ford Mustang that was stopped in the live lane on Wellington Road 50 near the Seventh Line in Guelph-Eramosa Township.  The complainant advised that the driver appeared to be sleeping behind the wheel and was concerned due to the fog in the area at the time and that it was dark.

Police located the vehicle and sleeping driver and while speaking with him detected an odour of alcohol on his breath and noted other physical signs of impairment.  The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a nearby Operation Centre for further testing.

27-year-old Justin BEAL of Guelph-Eramosa Township has been charged with Care or Control Impaired and Care or Control Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on February 7, 2017 to answer to his charges.

 His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
