Jacked foods: giving people their time back

The target audience for Jacked Foods is professionals wanting to eat healthy and save time, or anyone looking for healthy and convenient food

“We are giving people their time back,” said Marty Saliba, owner of Jacked Foods.

The new macro-friendly gourmet food service recently opened its own storefront and kitchen at 48 Victoria Road South, taking over the space that once housed the beloved Pasta and Pizza Del Nonno.

In order to transition smoothly, Saliba is still offering daily - and healthy - pizza options for long-time customers of 48 Victoria Rd S.

Saliba comes from a family of successful business owners. His parents own and operate Meadowville Garden Centre in Guelph, and Saliba was raised in a home of hard workers with business sense.

Saliba knew he’d one day own his own business, and has a background in marketing and finance.

Last year Saliba was travelling a lot for work, and finding it difficult to balance his professional career and desire to eat balanced home cooked meals.

“I was trying to prep meals so that I wouldn’t eat fast food. I was so busy working and going to the gym after work, that it was hard to manage meal preparation as well,” said Saliba.

He realized there was no businesses that offered an easy and healthy solution, and his vision and business grew from there.

“We are trying to create a world without dieting,” said Saliba.

Jacked Foods offers meal preparation services, made with fresh and preservative-free ingredients.

In the summer the chefs use local and organic produce grown in their own garden at Meadowville Garden Centre, and all their meat is Halal-certified and purchased through Sysco Canada.

The target audience for Jacked Foods is professionals wanting to eat healthy and save time, or anyone looking for healthy and convenient food.

The company delivers foods to customers every four days, and customers have a choice to choose between two or six daily meals. Each meal has a four-day shelf life and comes pre-cooked and ready to reheat. It’s rare for a meal to be repeated, with an eight week rotating menu and new recipes being made continuously.

Clients are able to customize their meal plan based on their own dietary restrictions or requirements. Jacked Foods offers meals for people with diabetes, celiac disease, and specific diets such as the keto-diet.

Saliba has also hired chefs that create nutritious and flavourful meals for their clients. Marie van Esch is an Executive Chef from Ireland who brings her extensive knowledge to the Jacked Foods kitchen.

Andrezej Rutkowski, a chef at Eggcetera, is also working at Jacked Foods, and has a passion for creating nutrient-rich meals for clients.

Saliba is also working on bringing in dieticians and professionals to advise clients on their nutritional needs, and help them create a meal plan that will keep them both healthy and full.

There’s no guessing with the foods offered through Jacked Foods, said Saliba. Ingredients are weighed and attention is given to a proper balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats. For those who don’t know what they need, nutrition advice and guidance is provided.

Saliba is hoping to create a healthy food revolution that is both convenient and nutrient dense, a fresh take on convenience.
